Create a QR code
Choose a brand, enter the web address, then download a print-ready PNG. The logo in the middle is optional and set separately. Whatever the brand, the file is named after it so a saved code can be found again later.
Tracking parameters (source, medium and campaign required)
Where the scan came from, one word per place: flyer, van, newsletter. GA4 groups incoming traffic by this first.
What carried the code: print, email, social. Keep it broad, the source is what does the naming.
The campaign or job this code belongs to, for example spring-plumbing. Use the same name on every channel in that campaign so the results stack up.
Optional. Traditionally the paid keyword. For print it is more useful for a placement or a variant, for example magnet or sticker.
Optional. Tells two otherwise identical codes apart, for example front-flyer and back-flyer. Use it whenever the same campaign gets printed twice.
Lets GA4 tell you which printed piece each scan came from. Hover or tap the i beside a field to see what it does.
SVG for print, and for anything that will be resized: it is true vector, so it stays sharp at any size and a designer can edit or recolour it. PNG for screen and everyday use: crisp edges and it works everywhere. JPG only when the file has to be small, such as a social post. It compresses the image, which can soften the edges of the pattern, so keep it away from print.
Keep the code, not just the print. Download the PNG, then drop it in the shared QR library so the next person can reuse it instead of rebuilding it. Leave the file name as it is: it already carries the brand and the campaign, so the code can be found again by searching for either.
